Funnily enough what the piece doesn't contan is what Elon Musk doesn't get about ads.

It be about what he doesn't understand about the ad business - but it doesn't get what he doesn't understand about ads.

If that was the case we could have talked about halo effect, and brand vs direct (and the writer's wrong assumption that X should be a direct environment rather than a brand environment) and how focussing on direct advertising cheapens his platform / experience..... and a whole slew of things.

Alas - it's about the ad business, and what Musk doesn't get in that can fill entire libraries.
