One of the frustrating things for me is that most of the conversation about journalism startups tends to focus on the big name, investor-funded publications like Puck, etc. There are a number of smaller, less high-profile efforts that are doing well while not getting any attention from the industry.

I've been doing this for nearly a decade, making money and creating a product that has carved out an interesting niche in the entertainment news genre. But I'll never get 1/100th of the attention of a Puck or Air Mail, because solo efforts from no-name (on a national stage) journalists aren't a compelling story to the people covering the industry.

If I sound frustrated, it's because I am.
