Possibly another example of ad-based models still working is how Joe Rogan has apparently lost some oomph by going exclusive on Spotify with his podcast. In the short-term, he got a big payout. But if his audience and growth are diminished now that he can't market on YouTube in the same way he once did, he may be a net loser in the long run. Someone with thoughts on this is Andrew Wilkinson in “Joe Rogan Got Ripped Off by Spotify”.
